More than 11 years ago, Pam Beesly was banned from Chili’s after a particularly drunken night, during which she stole drinks from other Chili’s customers. Now, after over a decade, it looks like Chili has finally lifted the ban.
On Monday, Beesly portrayer Jenna Fischer tweeted a picture of herself posed outside a Chili’s restaurant, with the caption “Should I try to go in?”
The internet went wild for the callback to that episode from season 2 of The Office, “The Dundies.” Check out the video below to see why Beesly was banned from the establishment.
In response to Fischer’s tweet, the restaurant got in on the joke, not only responding with a tweet, but also with an official press release.
The restaurant proclaimed, “Effective immediately, Chili’s Grill & Bar has removed the longstanding ban on a Scranton, Pennsylvania, woman who allegedly caused a disturbance during a companyawards party held at a Chili’s near the Pennsylvania town of Scranton.”
If that wasn’t enough authority, the President of Chilli’s, Kelli Valade, also chimed in. “After reviewing the good conduct of Pam, I have decided to lift the now 11-year ban. Pam is an inspiration to many and we welcome her with open arms,” he said.
Fischer responded with appropriate enthusiasm, tweeting: “OMG! Second drink!!!”
It looks like Beesly can once again enjoy margaritas to her heart’s content at the restaurant.
