O.J. Simpson, the 76-year-old former football player and acquitted murder defendant, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Currently, he is undergoing chemotherapy in Las Vegas.
Rumors have been circulating on the Internet that Simpson was currently in hospice to treat his condition, but he denied these claims on the social media platform X.
In the video, he exclaimed, “No I’m not in any hospice, I don’t know who put that out there.”
He also stated, “Whoever put that out there, it’s like The Donald [Trump] says: can’t trust the media!”
Simpson plans to have a nice Super Bowl weekend with friends in Las Vegas and said that “all is well.”
In May 2023, Simpson posted a video indicating that he had cancer and had to undergo chemotherapy. He also revealed that marijuana had helped with cancer and that he was “over chemo,” making his health history unclear.
Simpson rose to fame in 1968 playing football at the University of Southern California. Famously, he was the running back for the Buffalo Bills from 1969 to 1977 and the San Francisco 49ers from 1978 to 1979. He’s had some acting and broadcasting gigs as well, including Saturday Night Live, Monday Night Football and The NFL on NBC.
However, these accomplishments were overshadowed after Simpson was accused of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman. A split jury found him not guilty in 1995. However, in 1997, he was found liable for the wrongful death and battery of Goldman as well as the battery of Brown in a civil lawsuit brought by the victims’ families.
The murders were the subject of a miniseries, The People Vs. O.J. Simpson.
Simpson served time in prison for other legal issues, including tax trouble, burglary, money laundering, drug possession and other crimes.
