O.J. Simpson Freed After Nine Years In Prison, Spends Night In Vegas

O.J. Simpson was released from a Las Vegas prison on Sunday after serving nine years for kidnapping and armed robbery, and is now spending life as a free man in a private home in the very city where he committed the crime.

According to CNN — which citedNevada’s Division of Parole and Probation — Simpson’s parole plan was decided upon at Lovelock Correctional Center before he was released.

“Mr. Simpson submitted a parole release plan for a residence in Las Vegas, Nevada. The plan was investigated and approved by the Division of Parole and Probation,” it said.

The Juice’s release comes on the same day Las Vegas witnessed a massive shooting at a music festival where 58 people were killed and more than 400 injured.

“I spoke to him this morning, and he was ‘What the heck is going on?’,” Malcolm LaVergne, Simpson’s lawyer, told The New York Post.

“And I said, ‘well, I hope nobody tries to pin any of this on you’,” LaVergne said he told him.

LaVergne added that Simspon’s release plans include a move to the Tampa Bay area, although he chose to stay in Nevada for at least one week due to Hurricane Irma.

The 70-year-old former NFL star was reportedly disappointed by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi’s open letter to the Florida Department of Corrections requesting that officials deny a transfer of parole to the Sunshine State.

Bondi mentioned the 1994 deaths of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, a case in which Simpson was acquitted of murder. However, Simpson was found liable in a wrongful death lawsuit and fined $25 million.

“The specter of his residing in comfort in Florida should not be an option. Our state should not become a country club for this convicted criminal,” Bondi wrote.

LaVergne called Bondi a “bimbo influenced by politics who was popping off” and accused her of “race baiting.”

He said Simpson will move to Florida by the end of the year and if Bondi tries to stop him, he’ll sue.

Simpson was originally sentenced to 33 years in prison.
