The president of NYU’s College Republicans of America organization has been forced to resign following her “controversial” comments about President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump.

Kaya Walker’s resignation was posted on X on Feb. 18, a day less than a week after an article about Barron’s life at NYU was published in Vanity Fair.

In the article, Walker told the outlet about Barron, “He’s sort of like an oddity on campus…he goes to class, he goes home.”

Walker’s resignation letter emphasized that her quotes were, “ridiculously misconstrued to suggest that I found Barron Trump’s commuter status to be unusual when in reality the majority of NYU’s body – including myself – are commuters.”

Walker further stressed that in her complete statement to Vanity Fair, she had clarified her  “disappointment in the spectacle that the media and individuals on campus have created through the online circulation of gossip, articles, memes and even photos taken of Barron in class with no respect whatsoever for his privacy.”

She highlighted the “unhealthy fascination that people have with a teenager just minding his business by going to college.”

Walker added, “I do apologize to everyone that I love and respect that was caught in the crosshairs of this willful and malicious misreading of my comment.”

College Republicans of America adamantly denounced Walker’s views as “inappropriate,” stating in a press release that her remark to Vanity Fair, “Does not align with the values and principles upheld by our organization…[The goal is to] reaffirm CRA’s dedication to the ideals of the Republican Party and conservative movement in a manner that reflects honorably upon our organization and its mission.”

In a statement to X, president of College Republicans of America Will Donahue said, “Barron Trump represents the future of the conservative movement, and we would be honored to have him join College Republicans. Strong leadership is built on resilience, courage, and the humility to rise above petty hostility–qualities that Barron has already demonstrated.”

The College Republicans of America broke a 100-year precedent last year when they endorsed Trump before the Republican primary, their announcement declaring, “Our support for President Trump is, and has been, a pillar of our organization.”

Insiders from the Trump Administration have reported that Barron is exceedingly popular with the young women at NYU. One studenty said, “He’s tall and handsome. A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive. Yes, even liberal people like him.”
