Nose Of Oklahoma City Thunder’s Plane Severely Damaged By Possible Bird Strike

The Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team departed after Friday night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. With the Timberwolves winning on their home court, 119-116, OKC boarded their flight to Chicago to play Saturday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls.

Their charter flight landed safely in Chicago at the Midway International Airport on schedule at 1 a.m. As the players departed the twin-engine Boeing 757-200, they immediately noticed a massive dent in the nose of their plane.

NBA star Carmelo Anthony posted a picture of the plane’s dented nose on Instagram after the team had landed with the caption, “What possibly could we have hit in the SKY at this time of night? Everyone is Safe, Though. “All Praise Due” #ThunderStrong.”

Anthony’s fellow teammates posted similar photos with captions questioning where the dent came from and what they have could possibly have hit at such a high altitude.

Josh Huestis tweeted, “I guess we hit something? 30,000 feet up…” Steven Adams even asked NASA about the dent. “Hey @NASA @neiltyson @BillNye We had a rough flight to say the least. 30000 feet in the air. Flying to Chicago. What caused this?”

Elizabeth Wolf, a spokesperson for Delta, said the plane could have hit a bird as the plane descended into Chicago.

Members on the flight crew agreed that there was nothing out of the ordinary about the flight that would have left the plane’s nose to be damaged.
