North Carolina Animal Rescue Worker, James Goldston III, Arrested For Poisoning Neighbor’s Dogs
A couple in North Carolina have been arrested for allegedly poisoning their neighbor’s dogs.
James Goldston III, 71, and his wife, Agnes Goldston, 73, are each charged with three counts of animal cruelty and one count of communicating threats.
Their neighbors, Philip and Jessica Ridley, said three of their dogs were poisoned, resulting in the death of two dogs. The Goldstons were also known for poisoning the neighborhood squirrels. The Ridleys have suggested the same poison was used on their dogs.

The Goldstons allegedly sent the Ridleys letters threatening them for over a year. One letter stated, “If one or both of these dogs put their paws on my property I am going to blow their brains out.”
In a statement released by the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, it was reported that the Ridleys’ dogs felt sick after receiving a threatening letter from the Goldstons.
“All three dogs were examined by veterinarians at three different hospitals,” the statement included, confirming that the dogs were indeed poisoned.
“It’s traumatizing. The dog is loving and caring one minute and 12 hours later he can’t get up and seizing and collapsing due to chemicals,” Philip said. “I have cried so much, I don’t think I have tears left.”
The Saving Grace animal adoption center where James worked, issued a statement that said he did not have any direct contact with the organization’s dogs and that he “voluntarily resigned, effective immediately.”
