Season two of the thriller series The Night Manager is in the works, the production company The Ink Factory announced. Broadcasters AMC and BBC have also confirmed, though they stressed that the season has yet to be greenlit.
In a joint statement, the three companies stated, “The Ink Factory, AMC and the BBC are in the early stages of developing a potential second [season] of ‘The Night Manager,’ but nothing is definite yet and we have nothing to announce.”
Susanne Bier, director of the first season of the British serial series, told Broadcast magazine a script for the second season is “slowly being developed.”
“We all very much want to do a season two but the thing we absolutely do not want is to do something that does not live up to the level of season one,” Brier said. “That would be a really bad idea.”
Season one starred Hugh Laurie as arms dealer Richard Roper, and Tom Hiddleston as Jonathan Pine, the night manager of a Cairo hotel. It received an impressive 12 Primetime Emmy nominations, winning for both its direction and music.
With its stellar track record, it makes sense that the producers are proceeding with caution, lest it leaves its fans crestfallen with disappointment.
