Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, made famous by her cringe-worthy stint on MTV’s The Jersey Shore, is happy to announce that she’s expanding her family with Jionni Lavalle.
News of Polizzi’s second pregnancy broke prematurely, before the reality TV star was comfortable sharing with the public. After expressing her irritation at the person who leaked the news and for the tabloids for making money off the story, Polizzi said that she and LaValle were thrilled to be giving Lorenzo an older brother.
“Jionni and I are so excited to confirm that we are expecting our second child!” Polizzi wrote on her blog. “Now knowing that our test results are good and our baby is healthy, we can finally talk about it!”
Before Polizzi was able to get the word out herself, articles were already giving their own spin to the Snooki pregnancy narrative. Some websites, recalling the worst of Polizzi’s Jersey Shore days, expressed concern about her reproducing again. Others alleged that she was trying to take attention away from her friend and Snookie & JWoww costar Jennifer Farley. Not to be outdone, puritans chastised the Dancing with the Stars alum for getting pregnant again before she and LaValle wedded as planned this fall. Snookie, of course, had an answer for all of them.
“With announcing this pregnancy, I’m STILL getting hate for “reproducing” and being a mother. For example, I saw an article that Complex.com posted by Nancy Stiles about my 2nd pregnancy labeling the title ” Snooki Expecting Second Child. God Help Us. ” Really Complex?” she addressed her critics. “With all the trouble in this world you’re asking God to help us because I’m expanding my family and happen to be an amazing mother to my children? Keep the 2012 jokes to yourself.”
For those trying to question her friendship, she said, “Are you out of your minds? If you knew Jenni & I personally, you would know we always wanted to be pregnant together. I love Jenni like my big sister, she is everything to me, not fame. I would never try to “outshine” her and like real women, we support each other and always want the best for each other, not beat each other down to see who can be more “famous”.
“I’m so glad you are all concerned about our life, but we are doing fine I assure you,” she told those concerned about her having a second child out of wedlock. “We planned to have a second child before our wedding, and will indeed still be getting married in the fall of 2014. […] He is my best friend and trust me, we will be together until death do us part. (And even in the afterlife I will be stalking his a–).”
Polizzi and LaValle welcomed Lorenzo in August 2012.
