Nicole Richie’s Hair Catches Fire During 40th Her Birthday Party

Fashion designer and television personality Nicole Richie had the hottest party in town – when her hair caught fire on her own birthday cake.

Richie shared a video onto her Instagram page of her blowing out the candles on her cake, only to have her hair catch on fire, to the surprise of everyone involved. A friend reaches out and tries to put out the fire with their hands.

Thankfully she was not injured and made light of the situation by writing, “Well… so far 40 is [fire emoji].”

Her husband Joel Madden had a simple response to the video writing, “That’s hot.” Other commenters joined in on the fun with similar fire-related puns.

Not everyone was as relaxed about the situation. “My heart just dropped!!!!” Kelly Rowland commented. Others shared her sentiment, stating how worried they were for Richie.

Before the birthday cake incident, Richie seemed to be having a good time celebrating her birthday with friends and family. Her husband posted a tribute to her on his Instagram page.

“Happy Birthday Nicole,” he wrote. “You’ve made love feel timeless I’ve forgotten how old we are.”
