Nicolas Cage has shared that he identifies with an unexpected subculture.
The actor, who will soon be traveling to New Orleans to film the movie Renfeld in the role of the iconic vampire Dracula, first admitted that he was a goth when he told The Los Angeles Times, that he has a pet crow named Hoogan. “I like their appearance, the Edgar Allen Poe aspect,” Cage said, “I like the goth element. I am a goth.”
Cage didn’t elaborate much on that point, but he did mention humorously that Hoogan apparently has developed a vulgar streak. “When I leave the room, he’ll say ‘Bye,’ and then go ‘A––,'” he said with a chuckle.
Renfeld will star Nicholas Hoult as the title character, who is a deranged henchman of Dracula’s who has an insatiable desire for everlasting life and is manipulated by his vampiric master until he decides to pursue revenge.
While waiting for this awesome-sounding movie to come out, you can watch Cage’s acclaimed performance in the 2021 film Pig, which is now streaming on Hulu.
