In one of many car commercials that crowded Super Bowl LVI, fans saw one humorous one where a gaggle of famous celebrities with the last name “Jones” did some classic offroading in Toyota trucks.
First, we see the legendary Tommy Lee Jones driving along a road in a cowboy hat, quickly joined by SNL alum Leslie Jones and actress Rashida Jones. They pretty much only yell “Jones!” at each other, and they swerve around a variety of environments with some funny slapstick moments happening before reaching a beautiful mountain view together.
The trio is suddenly joined by someone with a slightly different surname, Nick Jonas, and they eye him suspiciously. The Jonas Brother member quips that it’s “keeping up with the Jonases now,” and follows along as the three Jones speed ahead of him.
This fun spot was directed by Bryan Buckley, a well-known commercial director who has directed 68 Super Bowl commercials since 1999. The New York Times even gave Buckley the nickname ‘King of the Super Bowl.”
