Nick Gordon and Michelle Gordon on 'Dr. Phil'
Nick Gordon, boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina Brown, is reportedly in rehab after a volatile interview with Dr. Phil McGraw, to air Tuesday night on Dr. Phil.
Gordon’s pre-taped interview with Dr. Phil has been widely anticipated, as Bobbi Kristina remains in the hospital with her father, Bobby Brown. Gordon claimed that the Brown family has banned him from visiting Bobbi Kristina and has only spoken out via Twitter since Bobbi Kristina’s hospitalization.
In the new interview with Dr. Phil, Gordon was clearly emotional and, Dr. Phil claims, drunk and on drugs. “He was emotionally charged and he was high as a kite. He needed to be under control. And at this point, we do have him in rehab,” Dr. Phil told Entertainment Tonight.
Dr. Phil revealed that Gordon appeared emotionally volatile during their interview, which also featured Gordon’s mother, Michelle. TMZ reports that Gordon’s mother admitted to Dr. Phil that her son was drinking alcohol and self-medicating with Xanax, and that Gordon suddenly spiraled out of control mid-interview when the conversation took a turn and became an intervention. The website reports that Gordon walked out of the interview and punched two Dr. Phil staff members.
“I went to Atlanta to interview Nick. When I got there, the interview became an intervention,” Dr. Phil said of the interview. Dr. Phil also claimed that Gordon’s lawyers told him that Gordon was completely out of control and that they feared for his life even before the interview began.
Dr. Phil said that after the episode was finished filming, he and Gordon’s mother were able to successfully convince Gordon to enter rehab.
Meanwhile, Bobby Brown’s sister, Leolah Brown, condemned the interview on Facebook with an open letter to Dr. Phil. In her letter, Brown claimed that Gordon is currently “under investigation for the attempted murder” of Bobbi Kristina. “Until this investigation is completed by law enforcement, I would ask that you or anyone else not provide this individual a platform to spin this situation to his benefit,” Brown wrote.
