Nick Carter Victim Claims Singer Texted Her After Alleged Assault, ‘Why Did You Make Me Do That?’

Former Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and his brother, Aaron Carter, are the subject of an upcoming docuseries, Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter.

In 2022, Aaron died from an accidental drug overdose in 2000. This four-part series follows the lives of the two brothers, including their relationship, Aaron’s substance abuse struggles and sexual assault allegations against Nick by Melissa SchumanAshley Repp and Shannon “Shay” Ruth

On-screen, a note declared that Nick did not participate in the documentary and “denied the allegations and questions his accusers’ credibility.”

In the documentary, Schuman reveals that after her alleged rape in 2003, Nick allegedly texted her, “Why did you make me do that?”

Her manager apparently cautioned her against reporting the crime, as Nick was a prominent figure, which could destroy her career. However, in an on-screen statement, her former manager denied she even told him about the rape.

In 2017, Nick said, “I am shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman’s accusations. Melissa never expressed this to me while we were together or at any time since anything we did was not consensual. We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa, both personally and professionally. This is the first that I am hearing about these accusations, nearly two decades later. It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm.”

Aaron also supported Nick’s accusers. Repp revealed, “Aaron could tell that something was wrong with me. Aaron was very kind to me. He didn’t have a great relationship with his brother at that time because what he said were other similar events with his brother and younger girls.”

In 2023, Nick also lost his sister Bobbie Jean a year after the loss of his brother.
