Nicholas Ryan spent $5,000 on plastic surgery in an attempt to look like Ryan Gosling.

Ryan, 32, an aspiring actor from New Jersey now living in Hollywood, received $5,000 worth of Botox and filler injections to help make his face resemble Gosling’s. The doctor who performed Ryan’s surgery, Dr. Tim Neavin of Beverly Hills, said that the desire to look like Gosling isn’t novel. In fact, he said that many of his male patients bring in photographs of Gosling as an ideal. “'Gosling's face is what I call an ‘architectural masterpiece’ in terms of bone structure, including a squared-off appearance between the cheekbones and jaw bone,” Neavin told the Daily Mail

Ryan hopes that looking like Gosling will help him get work in Hollywood. “He's got a look that a lot of people in America are looking for right now, especially in my line of work,” Ryan said. “I'm hoping I'll get more auditions and roles if I look more like Ryan Gosling. That's why I had the surgery.”

Many Gosling fans have argued that Ryan still looks nothing like the actor. Ryan, however, believes the transformation was a success and is happy with his results. “I went to a pool party this week, like we do here in L.A., and this girl came up to me and she said, ‘You have a very Ryan Gosling look to you,’” he said. “I couldn't believe it! After all the stuff I had gone through, it was amazing.” He hopes that more women will notice his resemblance to Gosling. “I'm secretly excited how women will react now I look a little bit more like their celebrity crush.”

Ryan also claims that since the surgery, he’s gotten more acting jobs. “Before now, my career was quite slow, but I'm just getting started,” he said. “I've worked on a couple of television shows, and I just landed a new show.”

Ryan’s decision to get plastic surgery is not unusual among men. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has reported that procedures in men has risen more than 106% since 1997.
