Niall Horan performed a few tracks from his new album Flicker on the Today show Thursday morning.
The former One Direction member played his hit “Slow Hands,” which is currently No. 24 on the Hot 100, as well as his ballad “Too Much to Ask.”
“Let’s fill the plaza right up,” the 24-year-old tweeted the night before his performance. And of course that’s what his fans did, as they lined up at dawn. “To be right in the middle of New York City and know that thousands have come to watch you , is an incredible feeling and it never gets old,” Horan tweeted after the show.
Later, the Irishman was a guest on Today, and spoke about his album and touring life with hosts Hoda Kotb, Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, and Carson Daly. Lauer brought up the fact that Flicker is anticipated to hit No. 1, which would make Horan the third One Direction member to have his solo album hit the top spot after Harry Styles and Zayn. “That’s the dream, that’s why we write music and we perform and get up on stage, things like that,” Horan said. “That would be incredible – we’ve got a little bit of time left to see what happens, but it’s looking good. Fingers crossed.”
Darcy continued, “[such 'Historic tension'] has resulted in headaches for the networks’ bosses.
