Beyoncé is reportedly the first choice to voice Nala in Disney’s upcoming remake of The Lion King.
Jungle Book director Jon Favreau is supposedly hoping to book the pop star for the role. Donald Glover has already been cast as lead lion Simba, with James Earl Jones voicing his father Mufasa. Nala is the lioness who befriends Simba and the pair eventually fall in love.
The film is being recreated in much the same style as the remake of The Jungle Book last year, with famous celebs voicing photorealistic CGI animals. While at the moment, the new Lion King will feature songs from the original, but if Queen Bey takes the role, there is speculation she may perform some songs as well.
Disney has not confirmed if Beyoncé has been approached, and her publicist also has yet to comment. This would not be the singer’s first foray into voice acting – she lent her voice to Queen Tara in 2013’s Epic. The superstar is currently expecting twins with husband Jay Z.
