The Cavinder twins, known for their basketball skills at the University of Miami, are expanding their brand beyond the court. On Saturday, Haley and Hanna Cavinder, both 23, walked in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show at the W South Beach, part of Miami Swim Week.
Wearing blue and orange bikinis, a nod to their alma mater’s colors, the twins shared the runway with models like Jena Sims, golfer Brooks Koepka‘s wife. Their appearance comes less than two months after they announced their return to Miami’s women’s basketball team for the 2024-25 season.
The runway stint marks another strategic move for the Cavinders, who have adeptly navigated the new Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) rules that allow them to make money as college athletes. Last June, they reportedly earned $2 million from such deals, positioning themselves as savvy entrepreneurs in the burgeoning world of college athlete endorsements.
Their athletic decisions match their business acumen. In a surprising move this spring, Hanna came out of retirement to rejoin the Hurricanes. Shortly after, Haley, who had committed to Texas Christian University, reversed course.
“I’ve decided to return to the University of Miami and play with Hanna for our final year,” Haley stated on Instagram. Her choice reflects a calculated risk: leveraging their twin dynamic for potential on-court success and off-court opportunities.
Last season at Miami, Haley averaged 12.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. As they gear up for their final collegiate season, the Cavinders are crafting an image that transcends traditional athlete roles—blending sports, fashion and business in a way that challenges conventional expectations.
Last July, the twins made waves on the ESPY’s red carpet.
