Trump Angered By Weak Performance Of Truth Social, Top Execs Depart After Disastrous Launch

After Donald Trump’s response to Twitter, Truth Social suffered a bumpy and glitchy launch through late February, and into the month of March, two top executives have departed the flailing company. The first Truth Social deserters were Chiefs of Technology and Product Development, Josh Adams and Billy BoozerLori Heyer-Bednar, the company’s chief legal officer, followed suit afterward.

Insiders close to Trump have said that he is tense and upset by the rocky launch of the site. He may be considering firing the app’s parent company leaders, like former Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, who left his government career to become CEO of Trump Media Group. The app apparently has a waiting list of about a million people long of people that can’t even install it, and its ranking on the app store has plummeted to as low as 173.

Even if he’s angry, the former President hasn’t been taking advantage of his audience to save the app. Trump apparently only has one post on his verified Truth Social account that is from February 14, and reads more like a preview saying “Get Ready! Your favorite President will see you soon!” Trump really has no alternative to this app, since he has been banned from major platforms including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter for comments related to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Prominent conservatives that are actually active on the app apparently include Fox News host Sean Hannity and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia), who is banned from Twitter herself. Another highly-followed account is Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse.

The app has also been suffering because of the unusual choice to forgo certain features from the February 20 launch. The app didn’t launch with an Android version and still doesn’t have one – Android users account for about 40% of the U.S. market. Sensor Tower estimates that Truth Social has accrued around 1.2 million total downloads, which pales in comparison to conservative social apps like Parler, which have over 10 million total downloads.
