Three Woody Allen Actors Donating Salaries To Charities, Rebecca Hall Apologizes To Dylan Farrow

Three actors in Woody Allen‘s new film A Rainy Day in New York are donating their pay to anti-abuse charities.

3 ACTORS IN WOODY ALLEN FILM DONATING SALARIES TO ANTI-ABUSE FUNDS

Timothée Chalamet and Rebecca Hall all announced on Instagram that they would be donating their salaries to support efforts against sexual assault. They both also expressed regret for working with Allen, who has long been accused of sexual child abuse by his adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow.

Their fellow actor Griffin Newman announced via Twitter back in October that he thought Allen was “guilty,” and that he would donate the money he made from his small role to RAINN, the Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network.

On Instagram, Hall admitted that she’d thought “very deeply” about her decision to work with Allen, who also directed her in Vicky Cristina Barcelona in 2008. “After reading and re-reading Dylan Farrow’s statements of a few days ago and going back and reading the older ones – I see, not only how complicated this matter is, but that my actions have made another woman feel silenced and dismissed,” she wrote on social media. “That is not something that sits easily with me in the current or indeed any moment, and I am profoundly sorry. I regret this decision and wouldn’t make the same one today. It’s a small gesture and not one intended as close to compensation but I’ve donated my wage to @timesup. I’ve also signed up, will continue to donate, and look forward to working with and being part of this positive movement towards change not just in Hollywood but hopefully everywhere.”

In his own post, Chalamet said that he had been unable to speak about the allegations against Allen due to “contractual obligations, but what I can say is this: I don’t want to profit from my work on the film, and to that end, I am going to donate my entire salary to three charities: TIME’S UP, The LGBT Center in New York, and RAINN.” He added, “I want to be worthy of standing shoulder to shoulder with the brave artists who are fighting for all people to be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.”

A Rainy Day in New York is set for release in 2018 and also stars Selena GomezElle FanningJude LawDiego Luna, and Liev Schreiber.
