Taylor Swift passionately performed the new release of her song “All Too Well (10-minute Version)” on Saturday Night Live.
Swift’s performance comes after her album release of Red (Taylor’s Version) on Friday.
The special guest started the number with an acoustic guitar, which she discarded midway through the song to act out the dramatic breakup scenario. Swift and the musicians performing with the star performed on top of a patch of autumn leaves across the stage. They performed in front of a screen that projected the new All Too Well short film. The film is Swift’s first crack at directing and was released on Friday.
The short film stars Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien.
Two background singers joined Swift and helped her close out the song. Swift added some acting in her performance when she sang the new lyrics of the 2012 song. She rolled her eyes and twirled her fingers to the lyrics: “Sipping coffee like you were on a late-night show.”
Jonathon Majors, star of the new Netflix show, The Harder They Fall, hosted this week’s episode.
“All Too Well” has been a fan favorite over the years and was originally five-and-a-half minutes. Swift said the 10-minute version is exactly as she first wrote it but had to cut the song down to be in Red.
Swift has made it a mission to re-record her past six albums after her ex-manager Scooter Braun brought the master rights of her music.
Earlier in the SNL episode, the songstress made a surprise appearance in a pre-taped segment with Pete Davidson and three of the show’s writers, Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy.
On Saturday morning, Swift announced online that she will be releasing the music video to her song “I Bet You Think About Me” from her newly released album on Monday. It will be directed by actress Blake Lively.
