The Late Show host Stephen Colbert shared his insighst on President Donald Trump‘s current legal investigation with his lawyer Michael Cohen.

Colbert explained that Trump and his advisers are worried that Cohen may turn against them during his investigation. “There are some doubts about the president’s current attorney and man-who’s-definitely-seen-the-Trump-sex-tape, Michael Cohen. Apparently, Trump and his advisers are increasingly worried that Cohen might be susceptible to cooperating with federal prosecutors.”

The host then shared that a current lawyer for Trump believes Cohen’s loyalty depends on how much prison time he will be facing. “One Trump team lawyer says Cohen’s loyalty depends on how much prison time he’s facing,”  Colbert explained. He showed a Politico report in which a source said that, if Cohen faced two to four years in prison, “Michael Cohen would be a stand-up guy. I think he’d tell them to go piss up a rope.

However the source then questioned, if “it’s 18 to 22 [years], then how loyal is he?”

Colbert then jokes that asking for that mean years of loyalty from Cohen is outrageous, given the fact he revealed Sean Hannity‘s name so quickly. “Michael Cohen disclosed Sean Hannity’s name in court after being asked twice,” Colbert laughs. “He’s not five minutes loyal.”

He ended his monologue by pointing out that innocence is nowhere to be found in this investigation. “Let’s just pause a moment to notice that they have jumped immediately to whether Michael Cohen will turn state’s evidence against the president of the United States to avoid jail time, which everybody believes is coming for at least one of these guys,” Colbert concluded. “The word innocent is nowhere in this conversation.”
