Scott Peterson Opens Up About Muder Conviction Of Laci Peterson In A&E Docuseries

Scott Peterson was convicted of murdering his wife Laci Peterson and their unborn child in 2005, and now A&E is releasing a docuseries about the events leading up to his conviction.

SCOTT PETERSON OPENS UP IN A&E DOCUSERIES

Peterson was sentenced to death by lethal injection in 2004. His 27-year-old wife, who was eight months pregnant with their son, was missing for four months in 2002 before her body was found in the San Francisco Bay. Peterson maintained his innocence throughout the entire investigation, and is now opening up for the A&E series.

“I couldn’t feel my feet on the floor. I couldn’t feel the chair I was sitting in. My vision was even a little blurry,” Peterson says of the moments after being handed his conviction. “And I just had this weird sensation that I was falling forward — and forward and down and there was going to be no end to this falling forward and down, like there was no floor to land on. I, I was staggered by it. I had no idea it was coming.” Laci’s mother, Sharon Rocha, on the other hand, has “absolutely no doubt in my mind that justice was served,” by sending Scott to death row.

The case was caught up in a media storm, especially once it was revealed that Peterson was having an affair with Amber Frey. “It had all the makings of a soap opera,” a voice says in the A&E trailer. The network claims it had “unprecedented access” to Peterson and his family for interviews. “[The series] really does give this kind of fascinating full picture, not just of the case itself but set against the backdrop of what was happening in our culture at the time,” said Amy Savitsky, A&E’s SVP of Development and Programming. “We really did want to approach it with the true kind of behind the scenes: from the media perspective, the law enforcement perspective [and] from legal and the family perspective.”

The docuseries The Murder of Laci Peterson will premiere on A&E on Aug. 15.
