Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to have a low-key Christmas this year.
The Duke and his wife have previously announced that they would be taking some time off during the holidays for some “much-needed family time,” specifically a six-week sabbatical. It is no secret that the Duke of Sussex and former American actress have been all over the tabloids, and would very much like a break from being in the spotlight.

In an interview with ITV for his documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, Harry said, “For me and my wife, of course, there’s a lot of stuff that hurts, especially when the majority of it is not true,” he said about himself and his wife being in the tabloids. “The majority of stuff [in tabloids] is created out of nothing. As brothers, we have good days and we have bad days,” he further addressed how himself and brother Prince William are portrayed in the media.
While the royals spend most of their Christmases together with Queen Elizabeth II at her
Norfolk, England retreat, the Queen has approved her grandson’s decision to get some peace and quiet with Meghan and Archie this season. The couple will reportedly spend the holiday with Markle’s mother.
In 2016, Prince William and Kate Middleton did the same and decided to take a trip to Kate’s hometown of Buckleberry to spend the holiday there rather than with the Queen. This Christmas though, they plan on being at the Sandringham estate with Her Majesty The Queen, along with their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
