Pete Davidson Will Ride On Bezos’ Fourth Blue Origin Rocket Flight

Pete Davidson will be tagging along with five other paying customers for a space flight through Jeff Bezos‘ space tourism company Blue Origin, according to a Monday morning press release from the new venture.

The flight, which will be on the company’s New Shepherd rocket, will take place on March 23. The New Shepherd has made three flights and has featured celebrity passengers to drum up stories around the flights such as Michael Strahan and William Shatner.

Other paying passengers included angel investors Marty Allen, husband and wife Marc, and Sharon Hagle, a real estate developer and nonprofit founder respectively. Teacher and entrepreneur Jim Kitchen, and Dr. George Nield round out the rest of those slated for this next Blue Origin flight.

The suborbital flight will last about ten minutes in total, but the passengers in the New Shepherd capsule will apparently be treated to truly awesome views of the earth and the darkness of space. They will also experience brief weightlessness at the apex of the flight.

Blue Origin is one of many new companies, including Virgin Galactic and SpaceX, that are trying to capitalize on the next frontier of space tourism. They have started only suborbital flights, unlike Elon Musks’ SpaceX which is the only current private company offering orbital flights.

It’ll be interesting to see what Davidson’s reaction to the unearthly experience will be later this month. Blue Origin is also offering live coverage of the March 23 launch for interested viewers on their website.
