Nick Cannon Announces Death Of Five-Month Old, Zen Son
Nick Cannon has announced that his five-month son Zen Cannon has died after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Cannon announced the tragic news during The Nick Cannon Show this week.
He began the show by saying he called the episode “a celebration of life” for his late son, who died last weekend.
Cannon reminisced on the sweet moments with his son and recalled the time he and his partner, model Alyssa Scott, were told their baby had a build-up of fluid in the brain.
Zen underwent surgery to get rid of a malignant tumor, and Cannon explained Zen took “an interesting turn” during Thanksgiving and the “process sped up.”
The couple spent the remaining precious moments with their son and they took him to the ocean and held his hand for a final time.
The T.V. show host said, “not only did we get to see the sun rise, we got to see the sun set.”
“I didn’t know how I was gonna handle today,” Cannon told his audience. “But I wanted to grieve with my family.”
Cannon tearfully explained how special those moments were with his son and said, “You can’t heal until you feel,” he told the audience and drew loud cheers.
Cannon has six other children from previous relationships.
He also brought therapist and T.V. host Dr. Laura Berman on to discuss the grief of losing a child.
Berman knows the pain a parent goes through personally. She announced in February that her son Samuel died of an accidental drug overdose at age 16.
Fans online sent their condolences’ to Cannon and his family during this hard time.
One Twitter user wrote, “You Have no idea what private battles people are fighting. Lead with love. Embrace empathy. The news about Nick Cannon and Alyssa Scott’s son is heartbreaking. May their baby rest in peace.”
