More Information Revealed About ‘Downton Abbey: A New Era’
The sequel to the Downton Abbey film has been officially titled and teased. A short teaser of the film was revealed at CinemaCon on Wednesday, Aug. 25, which promised hints of a wedding and released the official title: Downton Abbey: A New Era.
It was announced that the entire Crawley family would be returning for the sequel, including Dame Maggie Smith (whose character was left in an ambiguous state at the end of the first movie). Alongside the original cast, new unconfirmed characters will be added, played by Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West.

Unfortunately, although originally slated for release around the holiday season of 2021, the theatrical release has been pushed back to March 2022.
