Mark Halperin’s Tweet About Trump Resurfaces Amid Sexual Harassment Allegations
Following the resignation of NBC and MSNBC senior political analyst Mark Halperin amid sexual harassment allegations, a tweet has resurfaced that shows Halperin slamming Donald Trump a year ago for his infamous Access Hollywood leaked audio.
In October 2016, Halperin took to Twitter to comment on the Access Hollywood recording, originally from 2005, that featured then-presidential candidate Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women.
Halperin shared his reaction to Trump’s leaked “locker room talk.”
But as women have come forward accusing him of harassment, Twitter users were quick to point out the hypocrisy of the 2016 tweet.
Halperin, 52, has been accused of allegedly grabbing a woman’s breasts without consent and pressing his clothed, erect penis against three of his co-workers. The Morning Joe star denies the alleged groping but did not specifically deny the women’s accusations that he propositioned them for sex.
The political analyst, who co-authored the bestselling 2008 election book Game Change, has resigned from both networks following accusations of sexual harassment by five women, according to a report published by CNN on Wednesday.
“We find the story and the allegations very troubling. Mark Halperin is leaving his role as a contributor until the questions around his past conduct are fully understood,” MSNBC told Fox News in a statement.
The journalist’s alleged behavior occurred while he was at ABC News, according to CNN, where the five women’s accusations were corroborated by others that did not personally experience the harassment themselves.
Sources say that HBO has also cut ties with Halperin, who was working with the network on a project tied to his untitled book about the 2016 presidential election.
