Kellyanne Conway continues to speak in support of former boss Donald Trump, but she doesn’t have the same nostalgia for some of her past co-workers in his Presidential administration according to her new book Here’s The Deal. She described Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as “shrewd and calculating,” and had other harsh words for him in both the book and a Tuesday appearance on The View.
Conway’s account of Kushner in the White House in her memoir focuses on his intense overreach and desire to be involved in everything. “There was no subject he considered beyond his expertise. Criminal justice reform. The Middle East peace. The southern and northern borders. Veterans and opioids. Big tech and small business,” she wrote.
“He got in my way, and all Donald Trump asked us to do was work together,” Conway said on The View when questioned about Kushner. She claimed that Kushner attempted to interfere with her television appearances and D.C. meetings once Trump was elected. “Jared’s a very smart person whose heart was in the right place to help this country, but when you have out of balance all this authority and no accountability, disaster lurks.”
“Some days felt like this extended, chaotic take your kid to work day when Jared was in charge with everything,” Conway added later in the interview. She also claimed that Kushner expressed remorse to her once at a dinner, and said, “I’m writing my own book, and the one regret I have is that we didn’t work more closely together.”
