Actor Josh Gad had to pass on a weekend Broadway performance due to a medical emergency. He posted a video on his Instagram addressing the situation.

“Unfortunately, I will not be at this afternoon’s performance of Gutenberg. I’m dealing with a medical emergency that despite telling my doctors I wanted to wait till Monday to address, they thought needed to be addressed immediately,” he wrote.

Gad later posted a positive update on his situation.

“Good News,” the caption read. “Thanks to the phenomenal team at Lenox Hill, I was able to be diagnosed and treated in record time for some lower abdominal issues I’ve been having. With their blessing, I will be back in the show this evening.”

Gad also posted a message on his Instagram story thanking his understudy, Russell Daniels, for taking his place, commending him for “[blowing] the roof off.”
