According to its record label Big Hit Music, BTS member Jimin went to the hospital after suffering from a mild sore throat and abdominal pains. Upon arriving at the hospital’s emergency room, Jimin was examined and diagnosed with acute appendicitis and Covid-19.

He complied with his doctor’s advice and underwent surgery on the morning of Jan 31. Big Hit Music has stated that Jimin will spend the next few days recovering in hospital, and assured worried fans that his Covid case seemed to be mild and that he was bouncing back quickly.

In another piece of good news, the label confirmed that Jimin had not had personal contact with his other BTS bandmates while he was considered infectious. Jimin is still the fourth member of the boy band to test positive for the virus after the band returned to their home country of South Korea following a huge U.S. tour. Members Suga, RM and Jin all tested positive, but have since recovered as of January.

If the current BTS hiatus is getting you down, members Jung Kook and Suga are releasing a new single this Friday. “Stay Alive” is produced by Suga, with lead vocals by Jung Kook. Check out a teaser for the new track below:
