Harry Potter is one of the most venerable works of fiction in existence. Video game adaptations of the popular IP are not uncommon, and a new title for mobile devices called Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will launch next year.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a narrative-focused adventure, allowing you to create your own avatar and enroll in the series’ iconic school. While receiving your seven-year education, you’ll be able to attend familiar courses, including Potions and Defence Against the Dark Arts, with professors from the iconic saga making appearances. Moreover, you’ll get to participate in familiar extracurricular activities, such as the Dueling Club.
Jam City is the studio developing Hogwarts Mystery. They’ve helmed many smartphone titles before, featuring popular licenses like Futurama, Family Guy and the Avengers. The studio is excited to be able to contribute to the longstanding Harry Potter legacy, expressing how creating the game is “a labour of love.” Chris DeWolfe, Jam City’s co-founder and CEO, expressed how they’re “dedicated to creating the most magical entertainment and game play experience for everyone who adores J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.”
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s president, David Haddad, affirms how it’s “great to work with Jam City on the game, as the company has a proven track record of bringing rich, beloved worlds to players of mobile entertainment.”
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will launch for mobile devices sometime in 2018. Additionally, another Harry Potter-themed mobile title, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite by Niantic, is also slated for release next year. Both titles will be published under the Portkey Games banner.
