Authorities say the rapper, whose full name was Mariel Semonte Orr, was shot in the chest Sunday afternoon during a home invasion when he was visiting a female companion’s apartment.
A spokesperson for the Rockdale County sheriff’s office, Jedida Canty, told reporters the alleged shooter, Jamichel Jones, “did know the female, and it was a domestic dispute … the suspect and the victim did not know each other.
Trouble collaborated with big names like Drake, Quavo, The Weeknd and Fetty Wap on his debut studio album Edgewood, executive produced by famed Atlanta producer Mike Will Made-It.
Mariel Orr was born on November 4, 1987 in Atlanta, Georgia. He started rapping at the age of 14, but his breakout single came out in 2011 called “Bussin.” He released nine mixtapes before signing a label deal with Mike Will Made-It and put out two well-received albums in 2018 with Edgewood and 2020 with Thug Luv before his untimely death.
Here’s a lyric video for another Quavo collaboration, “Popped” from Thug Luv.
His killer remains at large and is wanted on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and home invasion. Anyone with knowledge of the situation is encouraged to call the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office at 770-278-8188.
