New Year’s Even Countdown To 2018 Specials: Who And What To Watch

Hurrah! With the end of the year upon us, a celebration is in order for making it through 2017 (relatively) unscathed. To aide in your celebratory countdown to 2018, here is a complete guide of televised New Year’s Eve events full of celebrity guests and performances.

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2016 (ABC)

The 45th annual New Year’s Eve special hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy is live in New York City at 8 p.m. EST. Ciara and Lucy Hale will co-host from Los Angeles and New Orleans respectively. The special will feature 5 ½ hours of performances from 8 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. breaking only for a half hour for local news.

Mariah Carey returns as headliner for the New Year’s special, despite technical difficulties last year. Other performances include Kelly Clarkson, Florida Georgia Line, Halsey, Hailee Steinfeld, Alessia Cara and more.

New Year’s Eve Live With Anderson Cooper (NBC and Telemundo)

Andy Cohen will be taking over as co-host alongside Anderson Cooper for the first time this year. Cooper hosted the special alongside Kathy Griffin since 2007, but CNN announced they were parting ways with the comedian after she appeared in a controversial photoshoot depicting a decapitated President Trump.

Cohen and Cooper, who have been friends for over 25 years, have undeniable on-air chemistry. The duo will be joined by correspondents around the country reporting on New Year’s celebrations, including New Orleans, Miami and Dallas. Festivities are live from Times Square starting at 8 p.m. EST.

Fox’s New Year’s Eve With Steve Harvey (Fox)

Emmy Award-winning personality and talk show host Steve Harvey will host the all-new New Year’s Eve special alongside Maria Menounos live from Times Square at 8 p.m. EST. The 3 ½ hour show will air from 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. EST and include performances by Celine Dion, Backstreet Boys, Macklemore, Flo Rida and more. Neil Diamond is also scheduled to lead the world’s largest sing-along to his hit “Sweet Caroline”.

Live From Lincoln Center (PBS)

The New York Philharmonic celebrates New Year’s Eve and the 100th birthday of the late Leonard Bernstein, the orchestra’s musical director from 1958 to 1969. The tribute begins at 9 p.m. EST and features performances by Annaleigh Ashford (Sunday in the Park With George), Christopher Jackson (Hamilton), Laura Osnes (Cinderella) and Aaron Tveit (Next to Normal).

New Year’s Eve Webcast From Times Square (Watch here )

The commercial-free, webcast coverage of the festivities leading up to the Ball Drop at midnight begins at 5 p.m. EST from Times Square. The webcast, hosted by Mean Girls star Jonathan Bennett and co-host Andrea Boehlke and Jeremy Hassell, will include backstage access, behind-the-scenes stories and interviews with revelers, performers and other celebrities.
