In the second teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, President Snow’s latest propaganda message for the people of Panem is interrupted by the resistance’s resident techie Beetee.
“Throughout this great nation, never have we been more unified, because now more than ever, Panem is speaking with one voice,” says President Snow (Donald Sutherland) with Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) to his left and Johanna Mason (Jena Malone) to his right. Panem’s president and the former Hunger Games victors are immaculately clad in white, surrounded by foreboding Peacekeepers in the video.
Snow continues, “The capitol and the districts, bound together in solidarity, together…” before the picture begins to break apart. It’s soon apparent that the Capitol’s transmission has been hijacked by the resistance, which is now formally calling itself the Rebel Underground.
As Beetee (Jeffrey Wright) appears on the screen, he says, “This is a pirate signal from District 13 with a message: the Mockingjay lives.” The message to the capitol and the people of Panem is clear – their heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) survived the Quarter Quell Hunger Games and will lead the people to overthrow the fascist regime led by President Snow.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 bows Nov. 21, 2014.
