New Memoir Reveals That Britney Spears Had An Abortion While Dating Justin Timberlake

In her new memoir, The Woman in Me, Britney Spears revealed she had an abortion during her relationship with Justin Timberlake.

In the book, which will be released on October 24, Spears described the pregnancy as “a surprise” but not “a tragedy.”

“I loved Justin so much,” Spears wrote in an excerpt. “I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.”

“But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy,” she continued. “He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young. I’m sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby. I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”

Spears had the procedure in 2000 when she was 18 or 19 years old.

In anticipation of the memoir’s release, Timberlake told Page Six that he was “concerned” about what Spears was going to reveal about their relationship.

Spears has had an eventful year. In August, she split with her husband, Sam Asghari, after just a year of marriage. In September, police conducted a wellness check after she posted videos where she was dancing with knives. The singer later claimed that knives were harmless props.
