Police have released footage from the set of the film Rust, which included the aftermath of the fatal shooting of a cinematographer by actor Alec Baldwin.
On Oct. 21, while filming, Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed by Baldwin while he rehearsed with what he believed to be a safe gun, unaware that it held a live bullet.
The authorities stated that a decision on whether criminal charges should be filed has not been made yet, and it will depend on the outcome of future forensic work.
“Today the sheriff’s office is releasing all files associated with our ongoing investigation,” said Sheriff Adan Mendoza. “The files are all related to the Rust movie set investigation and include lapel/dash camera footage from deputies and detectives, incident reports, crime scene photos, examination reports, witness interviews, set video and staff photos collected throughout the course of this investigation.”
In one of the released videos, Baldwin is seen dressed as a cowboy and seemingly practicing with what appears to be the gun that killed the cinematographer.
Other videos show first responders treating Hutchins and writer/director Joel Souza, who was wounded, inside the church set built at Bonanza Creek Ranch before they were transported via ambulance.

In another video, Baldwin speaks to the police and asks about his coworkers’ conditions. A deputy went up to the actor and asked if he was alright, to which he replied, “No, I’m not, actually.”
“Once these investigative components are provided to the sheriff’s office we will be able to complete the investigation to forward it to the Santa Fe District Attorney for review,” Mendoza added in his statement.
