New Clip From ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Released, Confirming Start Of Production

Star Wars fans are rejoicing as a new clip was released Monday to confirm that filming of the newest movie, Star Wars: Episode VIII, has begun. The clip was shared on the Star Wars official Facebook page. The post was captioned, “We are thrilled to announce Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran will join Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill and director Rian Johnson for Star Wars: Episode VIII, which begins shooting at London’s Pinewood Studio today. May the Force be with you, always.”

The first few seconds of the clip show Rey meeting with Luke Skywalker at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The Facebook posts also introduces the newest cast members, Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran. 

The official Star Wars page also announced where the movie was being filmed. The post said, “We are thrilled to announce that the next chapter of the continuing Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode VIII, has begun principal photography at Pinewood Studios in London. Learn more at StarWars.com.”

The movie isn’t set to hit theaters until December 2017 but fans can expect more teasers and trailers.
