Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ Will Return For Season 3: What’s Next For Eleven?

Netflix’s wildly popular series Stranger Things is officially returning for a third season.

The streaming service took to Twitter on Friday to make the announcement.

The not-so-surprising news comes months after the 2017 Emmy Awards where the drama scored five awards and 18 nominations. The series also won a SAG Award earlier in the year for best drama series ensemble.

Season 2 of Stranger Things debuted in October.

The sophomore season found the young crew (portrayed by Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo) once again plagued by the Upside Down as a dark force possessed one of their own.

The nine-episode second season introduced several new characters to the cult series.

Sadie Sink played newcomer “Mad Max” Mayfield, a tomboy and recent transplant from California who excels at skateboarding and video games. Max is not afraid to speak her mind and despite often seeming asocial and irritable, she quickly gains the affection of both Lucas and Dustin.

Dacre Montgomery joins the cast as Billy, a secondary antagonist and the step brother of Max. Billy is captivating and unpredictably violent, and his toxic masculinity generates feelings of pity and enmity from the series’ fan base.

Lastly, Linnea Berthelson portrays Kali Prasad or “Eight”.  Kali, alongside Eleven, was abducted and subjected to testing by Hawkins National Laboratory because of her abilities. Kali is a skilled illusionist and can make people see things that are not actually there.

The three newcomers quickly garnered a substantial fan base and will likely receive deeper character development and larger roles in the upcoming third season.

No release date has yet been announced for Season 3.
