There are clips of people overcoming adversity, achieving great feats and devastating moments on Earth – alluding to an event that made it necessary for the colonization of another planet. While the family is walking towards the ship, a voiceover says, “Earth is our home but only so long as it keeps us safe. When this world can no longer serve that purpose, another planet, another colony, another chance. The rest of human history begins, now.” Then, there are clips showing a crash that throws the family off track and gets them lost in space.

The series stars Mina Sundwall, Max Jenkins, Molly Parker, Taylor Russell, Toby Stephens, Parker Posey and Ignacia Serricchio. The series will be written by Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless and will have Zach Estrin as showrunner. They are set to produce alongside Kevin Burns, Jon Jashni,Neil Marshall and Marc Helwig.
