Netflix Apologizes For More Than Hour-Long Delay To ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 4 Reunion

The live Love Is Blind reunion failed to release on Netflix Sunday night. The dating show encountered major delays, displaying an error message for viewers: “Pardon the interruption. We’re having trouble playing Netflix. Please check your internet and try again.”

The show was scheduled to being at 8 p.m. ET, but after more than an hour, Chloe Veitch from Perfect Match and Too Hot to Handle announced to a Hollywood watch party audience of press and influencers that they were going to tape the reunion, resulting in some viewers being able to see the special live.

Hosts Vanessa Lachey posted an Instagram video with her husband and Love Is Blind co-host Nick Lachey around 8:30 p.m. ET, saying, “Everybody broke the internet to see this reunion. So we are ready to roll. We just got to figure this out. We’re getting everything to work.”

A spokesperson for Netflix stated that viewers should be able to watch the show later Sunday night. Ninety minutes after the episode was supposed to air, Netflix apologized on Twitter for their mistake.

The delay resulted in collective criticism on social media. Other networks mocked Netflix with Bravo’s Twitter account posting, “We would never keep you waiting for a reunion.”

The Love is Blind reunion was supposed to be the streaming service’s second live event after comedian Chris Rock‘s special Chris Rock: Selective Outrage streamed in early March. The showing went smoothly with no apparent technical issues.

Netflix is looking to continue experimenting with live programming. Next year, it will stream the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony live. This will be the first major awards show to air on a streaming platform.
