Netflix Announces ‘Gilmore Girls’ Return Date, Releases New Trailer

Netflix has announced the release date for Gilmore Girls: A Year In the Life  — along with new footage from the series revival.

Netflix Reveals ‘Gilmore Girls’ Return Date, Releases First Trailer

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will feature four 90-minute episodes, each covering a season of the year.

Gilmore Girls originally ran on CW from 2000 to 2007 — and will reunite original cast members Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel in the upcoming Netflix series.

The new trailer opens with a look at a familiar Stars Hollow town before jumping to Lorelai (Graham) and Rory’s (Bledel) kitchen, where the mother and daughter duo bicker just like old times.

Graham spoke about the revival of the dramedy at the Television Critics Association summer press tour — praising the cast’s ability to fall back into their chemistry.

“Everything was like, ‘Oh, here’s the chemistry we had from the very first day we met,’ and it was just a joy to revisit,” Graham said. “It was easy. It was fun. It was joyous. It was exhilarating. It was the old show.”

Bledel teased that questions of Rory’s love life will be answered in the four-part series.

“All of her exes make an appearance, and it was great to work with all of them… People’s questions are answered,” Bledel shared at the TCA panel.

Graham also shared that the new episodes will deal with the death of Lorelai’s father, Richard, following the death of Richard’s portrayer Edward Herrmann in 2014.

Show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, who has returned to write the new episodes, said she would have preferred them to have been released gradually, rather than all in one day. She urged fans not to rush to the ending.

“It would be great if people who wanted to see the last four words first got some therapy first and got rid of that inclination,” Palladino said. “It really is a journey… It’s going to mean a lot less if you just flip to the last page. I would hope that people would want to take the whole trip. It’s a fun trip. It’s worth it.”

Gilmore Girls: A Year In the Life will be released on Nov. 25 at 12:01 a.m. on Netflix.
