Emily Wickersham has yet to make her first appearance on procedural drama NCIS, but the show's replacement for departed star Cote de Pablo has already been offered the promotion to series regular.

Wickersham joined the cast three months ago, following de Pablo’s announcement that she would be leaving the hit CBS show, which freed up a spot for a new female lead to replace Ziva David. Initially, the former The Soprano’s star was only signed on for a three-episode arc, but the series regular option has already been activated, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

When Wickersham makes her NCIS debut on Nov. 19, she will be introduced as NSA analyst Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop. The twentysomething newbie was described in a casting breakdown as "bright, educated, athletic, attractive, fresh-faced, focused and somewhat socially awkward,” according to TVLine. “She has a mysterious mixture of analytic brilliance, fierce determination and idealism. She's traveled extensively, but only feels comfortable at home."

Bishop specializes for the NSA in both assessing international threat and global preparation, reported THR. Her strengths will be utilized in the character’s premiere when it’s found out that the secretary of the Navy was bugged during a high-security briefing. In order to figure out who committed the breach, Bishop will team up with Gibbs (Mark Harmon), Tony (Michael Weatherly), McGee (Sean Murray) and the rest of the gang.

Prior to landing the role on NCIS, Wickersham has appeared on the big screen in Definitely, Maybe, Gone and I Am Number Four. In addition to The Sopranos, her small screen credits include Gossip Girl and The Bridge.

NCIS airs Tuesdays on CBS at 8/7c.
