Naya Rivera filed for divorce from husband Ryan Dorsey after two years of marriage.
The couple had an on-and-off relationship for years before they wed in July 2014. The 29-year-old Glee star and Pitch actor broke up in 2013 and Rivera was engaged to rapper Big Sean for a year before he broke it off. Three months later, Rivera and Dorsey were married. Rivera gave birth to their son Josey Hollis Dorsey in September 2015.
Earlier this year Rivera published a memoir called Sorry Not Sorry and revealed she had had an abortion weeks after breaking up with Dorsey in an earlier phase of their relationship. When she told him months later, his response was the “kindest and best thing that any man could have ever said in that situation,” she told The Real.
“After much consideration, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” the couple announced in a joint statement. “Our priority is and always will be our beautiful son that we share together. We will continue to be great co-parenting partners for him. We ask for respect and privacy for our family during this difficult time.”
Rivera filed on Nov. 15 and is seeking primary physical custody of son Josey, with visitation rights for Dorsey.
