Navy Demotes Trump Ally, GOP Rep. Ronny Jackson, After Report On Misconduct Drinking On The Job & Unprofessional Behavior

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) has been demoted by the Navy in light of a damning report from the Defense Department watchdog that exposed his inappropriate conduct, which included drinking on the job, frequent outbursts directed at subordinates and further unprofessional behavior.

Jackson retired on December 1, 2019.

Jackson, a retired one-star rear admiral who served as the top White House physician under Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, has been demoted to the rank of captain.

Commander Jacqueline Pau, a Navy spokeswoman, said, “The substantiated allegations in the DoDIG investigation of Rear Adm (lower half) Ronny Jackson are not in keeping with the standards the Navy requires of its leaders and, as such, the Secretary of the Navy took administrative action in July 2022.”

Upon the release of the Pentagon Inspector General’s report in March 2021, Jackson dismissed it as a politically motivated attack, telling reporters that Democrats were “using this report to repeat and rehash untrue attacks on my integrity” because “I have refused to turn my back on President Trump.”

He vehemently denied any claims of drinking on the job.

Jackson began his tenure in the White House medical unit back in 2006 and gradually rose through the ranks to assume the highest position during the Obama administration.

In 2018, Jackson performed Trump’s physical examination. Jackson had declared Trump to be in “excellent health,” and said he thought Trump could live to be 200 years old if he ate better, despite indications of heart disease and borderline obesity.

Jackson’s oddly enthusiastic critique of Trump’s health was even mocked on Saturday Night Live.

Trump nominated Jackson to head the Department of Veterans Affairs based on his personal affinity for the doctor. However, misconduct allegations emerged after Jackson’s nomination for the V.A. position, which led to his withdrawal from consideration.

Despite this setback, he continued to serve in Trump’s White House as a medical adviser before ultimately running for a congressional seat in Texas and winning a seat as a Republican.

A Pentagon inspector general’s report recently found that the medical unit run by Jackson illegally dispensed drugs to unqualified staff members.
