National Security Council Denies Rumors Of Impending ‘National Quarantine’

The White House National Security Council quelled rumors of a “national quarantine” on Sunday in light of the coronavirus pandemic, after text messages and social media posts circulated.

The NSC tweet reads: “Text message rumors of a national #quarantine are FAKE. There is no national lockdown. @CDCgov has and will continue to post the latest guidance on #COVID19. #coronavirus

There is no plan for a national quarantine, though officials have urged Americans to stay home as much as possible and practice social distancing.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention asked on Sunday that events with 50 or more people be cancelled.

As of Monday morning in the United States, 3,602 people have contracted COVID-19, and 66 people have died.
