Nate Berkus and his husband Jeremiah Brent have confirmed that they’re expecting their first child together via a surrogate.
Berkus took to Facebook on Wednesday afternoon to break the baby news, writing, “Wanted to share some exciting news… We have had the most special year and it’s JUST become even more beautiful. We are happy to announce that we are expecting our first child!”
The American Dream Builders host added, “While we can’t share much, we can say that thanks to a surrogate and the support of those we love we will officially be a family in the spring of 2015!”
It had first been speculated back in March that the two were planning to welcome a baby, but the couple quickly shut down the rumors. “There is no truth to the rumor," Berkus' rep told Us Weekly at the time. "There is no surrogate and no plans for a baby at this time."
Berkus and Brent, Rachel Zoe’s former personal assistant, were married on May 3 at the New York Public Library in front of more than 220 guests. Among the big names who watched the couple exchange vows were Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Oz, Rachey Ray, Busy Phillips and Rebecca Miknoff. OWN president Sheri Salata officiated the nuptials.
