Natalie Portman, 29, must have watched the movie Blood Diamond.

The Black Swan actress, who sticks to a strictly vegan diet, is sporting a diamond engagement ring that not only has a "conflict free" guarantee, ensuring that no one was injured or treated unfairly in the mining process, but was designed with the collaboration of her husband-to-be, Benjamin Millepied, 33.

"We wanted everything about the ring to speak to things that are important to Natalie," designer Jamie Wolf told In Style. "Ben was exceptionally thouhtful and dedicated and patient to make sure we had everything right," she said.

The central stone is a round antique, surrounded by smaller pave diamonds, set in recycled platinum. Wolf, who has also created jewelry for actresses Jessica Biel, Anne Hathaway and Julia Roberts, is extremely excited about her creation and happy to have collaborated with Millepied. "It was a lot of fun to work with him; he's such a great guy and it's such a great piece of jewelry," she said. "It speaks to my work and my taste on a personal level. I was really proud of how it turned out. It's gorgeous."

The newly engaged Portman has a lot to look forward to. Fresh off a Golden Globe win, she's now expecting her first baby with Millepied, and just learned that she's been nominated for an Oscar for her role as a prima ballerina in Black Swan. —KIMBERLY STEELE
