The creators of Thor: Love and Thunder have announced that Natalie Portman will be back in the Thor franchise.
It was announced at San Diego Comic-Con Saturday that Portman would reprise her role as Jane Foster and become the female Thor. Many fans, especially women, were excited.
Portman also revealed her role on Instagram with a photo of her next to Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth.
“So thrilled to share the news with you today at #sdcc2019 that I’ll be returning to the @marvel #mcu as female Thor with legends @taikawaititi @tessamaethompson and @chrishemsworth,” wrote Portman. “Remember this as the before picture for when I get jacked,” she joked about getting ready to play her new superhero role.

Portman will now star alongside Thompson, known for her role as Valkyrie.
It has already been revealed from the last Avengers film that Thompson would be back as the king of Asgard. Thompson broke the news at Comic-Con that her character would be looking for a queen, which makes her potentially the first openly LGBTQ superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Fans of the MCU already know Jane Foster’s fate in the comics. In a 2014 storyline, Thor loses his power and renounces his name. Foster picks up the Mjolnir and becomes the Goddess of Thunder, and ultimately takes on Thor’s name.
