‘Nashville’ News: Connie Britton Signs On For Just 10 Episodes For Season 5

Connie Britton looks to be eyeing a quick exit from Nashville, which has moved to CMT.

Connie Britton Leaving ‘Nashville’

When Nashville was canceled after four seasons at ABC, it looked as though the show’s loose ends would never be tied up for fans of the series. However, the evening soap opera got a second life when CMT picked it up for a 22-episode fifth season. Unfortunately, many of those will be missing Britton.

Britton has only signed on to appear in 10 episodes of Nashville‘s fifth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The news of Britton’s limited commitment to season five comes as something of a shock for fans. The actress and eight of Nashville’s other stars — including Hayden Panettiere — were said to be on board for all 22 episodes of the show’s first season on CMT. Will Chase and Aubrey Peeples will not be making any appearances in the fifth seasons, which will see its episodes stream on Hulu after airing on the CMT.

When it looked as though Nashville wasn’t going to get renewed, Britton had talked about its cancellation on Late Night with Seth Meyers, calling it “the end of an era.”

“It’s bittersweet,” Britton added. “I always feel like, to have four years on anything, you can never take that for granted.”

In addition to Nashville, Britton is slated to star in the feature film Beatriz at Dinner with Salma Hayek, Chloe Sevigny, John Lithgow and Jay Duplass.
