The Annual Philly Naked Bike Ride will once again return to Philadelphia on Sept. 9.
The purpose of the event is to celebrate body positivity and to desexualize nudity. In addition, the bike ride hopes to advocate for cycling and fuel conscious consumption. If one is not comfortable riding completely nude, the event runs on a “bare as you dare” policy, meaning each rider can be as dressed or undressed as s/he wishes.
The route and meet-up location has not yet been set, but riders should expect to pass the usual suspects of the Rocky Steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rittenhouse Square, and City Hall. Pre-ride activities will begin at 3 pm, with the actual ride starting at 5 pm. The event draws thousands of cyclists of all different riding skill levels, and it should be noted that the event is not a race. It usually takes between 2 and 3 hours to complete the 10-mile route.
